Lindsay, a fellow FitFluential Ambassador and one of my new blogger/twitter friends started this awesome program in September called Foodie Penpals. The idea behind it is simple – each month, she pairs up all the participants (over 200 this month) and a box of fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats are exchanged! I had read about it on her blog a few months ago and finally got the courage to sign up and give it a try this month! (For more information on participating in the Foodie Penpals Program, check out Linday’s blog or the information section at the bottom of this post)
I was contacted by Sara, a 4-year (D-1) soccer player who is a newlywed living in Utah…she sent me an AMAZING package!!
So many delicious (and organic) treats!!!
I’m just going to highlight a few of my favorite items (I actually ate both peanut butter cups as soon as I opened the box!!) – what can I say? I am a sucker for chocolate. I have tried several treats from both the Justins’ and Green & Black’s lines but was excited because I had yet to try either of these…they could not have been more delicious!
In all my years of running, I had yet to try The Honey Stinger line of energy chews and waffles – I’m usually pretty cautious about buying new things, so I was glad that she sent them – it forced me to give them a try! I tested out the Cherry Blossom on one of my recent tempo runs and LOVED it!
Pretzels are a staple in my diet – I enjoy snacking on pretzels with peanut butter in the afternoons after a hard morning run. I’m a huge fan of cinnamon snacks so I don’t know why I had never picked these off the shelf before! These organic crisps are beyond yummy. I’ve been snacking on them since the day they arrived in the mail =)
Foodie Penpals Program:
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
** Foodie Penpals is available to US and Canadian residents! Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only.
