Busy as a Bee and Winner of Saucony Shoe Giveaway!!!

Hey friends!

I know I’ve been MIA the last week – with my blog, Facebook, Twitter…basically all forms of social media!   Everything is great here – just super super busy.  Since late last week, I have spent ~12 hours / day at our new house – cleaning, unpacking, watering the newly laid sod (seriously hours a day), and letting my son get acquainted with our new home before the big move.   I don’t want the huge transition to be too difficult for him – we are going from a 2 BR apartment to a 4-BR, 3,000+ sq foot home.  So, we spend all day in the house and head back at his bedtime.  Once he’s sleeping, I have been focusing on packing up things here before going to bed passing out for the night.

Multi-tasking - My husband taping (in prep for painting) while occupying our son!

Backyard - Before!

Backyard - AFTER!

It’s been a major challenge to not overdo it.  And to be honest, I’m not doing such a great job.  It’s so hard to force myself to take breaks – even if it means just putting my feet up.  When my son is napping, I get a second wind and try to get as much accomplished as I can.  I know I should be resting or even relaxing when he naps.

I’m also BEYOND thankful for having such a fantastic family.  My dad spent the better part of the holiday weekend helping my husband with projects around the house – everything from building me my dream closet (pictures to come soon!) to installing a chair rail in AJ’s room!  While that was going on my mom and sister were busy cleaning the many, many windows in the house – screens, glass, all those hard-to-reach crevices.  They have been in countless hours helping make the house spotless in time for our move.  Not to mention we’ve had a handful of surprise visits from my other sister and her daughter – often with Italian ice in hand!  I can’t imagine trying to do all this without the help of family.

Today was supposed to be a Hump Bump Day update – will do one next week instead!! =)

    1. My very first pair of shoes years ago were hand me down Saucony’s. I can’t wait to get into these new kicks. Thanks again Michele, you’re one of my favorite mother runners – even before getting picked!! 😉

    2. Speaking of Sauconys and pregnant running (or not) did you find that you had to switch running sneakers at all during pregnancy? I tried to search your archives but couldn’t find if you’d talked about this. I’m 21 weeks and up until last week was plodding along pretty comfortably with my little low weekly mileage but now am finding my legs are lead every run…totally dead. I know my sneakers are just about done (Saucony Mirage which I’ve loved for 2 years now) but should I just get another pair? I’m worried my extra weight is too much and I need a more supportive pair. My knee has been twingy too lately which never happened before.

      • I meant I’ve been wearing several pairs of Mirages over the last two years, NOT that this particular pair is two years old! ha

    3. I’ve never run in Sauconys (but I’m willing to try just about any brand, provided I can afford it!). Let us know how they work out, Melissa–and congrats! : )

    4. Your family sounds amazing! Such a blessing to have them close! Hope you’re able to put your feet up soon. Be sure to take some time for yourself!

    5. Moving is such hard work! But how exciting, too! You guys will be all settled when the next bambino arrives, which is great.

We moved into this house when my son was about AJ’s age. I can remember him just collapsing onto the carpet one day and crying his eyes out, then falling asleep right there. Other than that, he didn’t seem to have any issues with adjusting–so just know that kids are incredibly resilient and he will be just fine, especially with your getting him used to the house!
