Random Things I’m Loving

I have a lot of random thoughts going through my head lately and decided to share some of the things that I am currently LOVING!!

– Third Trimester  – Today officially marks the start of the 3rd trimester.  Knowing that I am in the home stretch is a wonderful feeling.  I will do a pregnancy update next Wednesday as well as a 2nd trimester running update soon!!  One of the books that I utilized SO frequently during pregnancy #1 (and again this time around) is the Runner’s World Guide to Running & Pregnancy.  My favorite quote from the book:

When I reached the 20-mile mark in my first marathon, a man on the sidelines yelled, “Congratulations! You’re halfway there.” I knew instinctively what he meant: The hardest part, the real test of my strength, lay ahead in those last 6.2 miles. And he was right.   So goes it with the last trimester of pregnancy…Running typically becomes less and less enjoyable as the weeks pass.

Cooler Temperatures – I don’t know about you, but last week’s heat and humidity came a little too soon for me. I am fully expecting days like that in August but was not ready for them in June!!  The last few days have been blissful – A/C off and windows open in the house, long sleeve running shirts in the AM, and sweaters for early morning/late night walks with my son.  Perfect.

Nike Fast Pace Women’s Tank Top – I was given a gift card to Foot Locker a few months ago and decided to stock up on some summer running clothes that I could wear as pregnancy progressed.  My favorite is the Nike Fast Pace Women’s Tank Top.  I ordered a size larger than I usually wear and found that it isn’t too big on my upper body (which is the problem I usually run into when I go one size larger).  The midsection is meant to be loose which is perfect because it has plenty of room for my belly.  And it’s long – longer than most of my other running tops – so my belly is completely covered.  This is going to be my go-to tank top for the remainder of pregnancy.

– Sparkly Soul Headband’s New Colors – My favorite running gear company, Sparkly Soul Inc,  just added EIGHT new colors to their inventory – Charcoal, Kaleidoscope Pink, Mint Green, Rose Pink, Teal, White, Pink Satin, and Red, White & Blue!!   The colors are available in both the thin and wide headbands and can be purchased online or at any of their retail locations.  And check back soon for an awesome giveaway hosted by Sparkly Soul!! =)

My son’s new-found love of the stroller – I haven’t run with the BOB since early fall.  Once my son took his first steps at 8 months old, he had no desire to go for walks or runs in the stroller – even for just a few miles. He wanted to be on his own.  I don’t even take the stroller anywhere these days because he wants to walk – and chasing after him and pushing a stroller is pointless.  However, the last few weeks, he has actually wanted to go in the stroller – we’ve gone on a few walks and he’s been completely happy!  Since I decided to shut off the alarm and sleep in this morning, I am going to attempt a stroller run with my son!!  Fingers crossed =)

Healthy Bites – Lindsay, one of my blogger friends and fellow FitFluential Ambassadors, is a certified Nutrition Manager and Fitness Consultant and her husband James is a professional triathlete (who I had the privilege of watching race in March!).  They started Healthy Bites as a way to provide healthy snacks and fuel options for all people.

All are made with mostly all-natural, gluten-free and organic ingredients. The mission is to offer the most minimally processed bites proving to people that eating healthy can taste really good while still being really good for you.

I had been planning to order some for months and finally did a few weeks ago.   I ordered 3 dozen (one dozen each of Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cookie Dough, and Cranberry Apple Crunch) and within a few days, had finished them all!!  I enjoyed having one or two after my morning run and/or later in the day when I was starting to get a sweet tooth for a snack.  But the best part was how much my son (and my niece!) LOVED them.  To them – it’s a treat – they don’t know that the bites are actually really healthy for them! Win-Win in my book!

What things are you loving right now??

      • For most women, the missed peiord is the first symptom. (I’m baffled by the person who says you have symptoms 2-3 weeks before the missed peiord you haven’t even OVULATED 3 weeks before the missed peiord!). While a few women may have some symptoms a few days earlier, these early symptoms’ can also mean PMS, or normal physical changes + obsessing. (I mean, we all have days when we feel extra tired, or crave chocolate, or are a little moody, or have some slight cramps, or our jeans feel tighter than usual. Most of the time, we wouldn’t give those symptoms’ a second thought we’re tired because we stayed up to late but if we’re hoping to be pregnant, or scared of being pregnant, it’s easy to view those as pregnancy symptoms.’It does take a few days for HCG levels to rise enough to cause ANY physical changes, so really a couple of days before the missed peiord would be the earliest that symptoms would even be possible.

    4. I am SO happy that he is loving the BOB:) Girl, you look WAY TOO GOOD in that top. I might have to get one too. Happy third trimester…we are getting close wahoo!

    5. Couldn’t agree more…THIS weather is ideal for summer. We can play and walk outside, shut the air off, and run errands without pouring sweat within seconds.

I’m LOVING trader joes… And have been for months now. It’s awesome. It’s not expensive, contrary to what many believe, the people that work there are soooooo nice, has a great selection of food and snacks that do not have tons of preservatives, etc. AND it’s actually a pleasure shopping there…with a soon to be 2 year old even. It’s laid out in such a way that it’s not super crowded, and I have never been on line for more than 5 minutes. I just love it. Granted, I still have to go to the regular stores like pathmark or stop & shop for certain items that are sold in family size (meats, etc). I hate Costco so I try to avoid it as much as possible. Haha.

Also, loving that I have chosen to have a small, kids only (with parents of course) birthday party at a local establishment for James. Having his 1st birthday at home was a LOT of work and we spent quite a bit of money anyway.

I think i may try the stroller again, thanks to u! James has hated it too but maybe he will sit in it now…
Congrats on entering the 3rd trimester:)

    6. I really need to try Lindsay’s Healthy Bites–they sound amazing! And that top does sound perfect. You may want to throw it in the trash post pregnancy b/c you’ll be sick of it, but it’s great to have now (at least that’s how I felt about most of my clothing from pregnancy!)
