Sparkly Soul Coach of the Month (June) + Giveaway

I was extremely excited and honored to be chosen for the Sparkly Soul Coach of the Month for June – and realized that with moving and pregnancy, I forgot to mention it when it was first announced on the Sparkly Soul blog almost a month ago!  Thank you, Sparkly Soul, for picking me =)

If you’ve been following my blog for a little bit, then you probably have already realized my love of these headbands.  If you are a new reader, here are some of the posts that will fill you in on just how much I adore them:

Random Things I’m Loving

Sparkly Soul has been my go-to headband since I first tried them almost a year ago.  I’ve worn Sparkly Soul Headbands on every run and for every race since the first day I’ve tried them – including the NYC Marathon and my first ultra and especially love wearing them on days when I just want to keep my hair in a ponytail (which is most days!).  The company was created by a marathoner and triathlete who wanted a headband that stayed in place during workouts without giving her a headache.  For more information on the history of the company, check out their webpage.

In my last blog post I mentioned how much I’m loving my Sparkly Soul Headbands.  They just added EIGHT new colors to their inventory – Charcoal, Kaleidoscope Pink, Mint Green, Rose Pink, Teal, White, Pink Satin, and Red, White & Blue!!   The colors are available in both the thin and wide headbands and can be purchased online or at any of their retail locations.

With 4th of July right around the corner (hello – next week!), I am thrilled to offer ONE reader two headbands – one wide and one thin – of one of the newest colors – Red, White & Blue!!

To Enter – Leave a comment telling me what you have planned for the upcoming holiday – BBQ, pool time, long run?

Additional Entry – Tweet about the giveaway – example: “I just entered to win a Red, White & Blue @sparklysoulinc headband from @nycrunningmama’s blog – #runchat #giveaway”.  And leave an additional comment below telling me you did so!

Wanna stay connected?  I’d LOVE if you checked me and Sparkly Soul out on our other social media platforms (but I won’t force you to like or follow us with an extra entry!!) =)

    11. The 4th is over, but I would LOVE to win. I have always wanted one of their headbands. We headed to the lake on the 4th and had a cookout after.

    12. My husband and I celebrated 4th of July with our 2 year wedding anniversary. We went wine tasting Charlottesville, stayed in a cute B&B, and then made our way back to DC in time for fireworks. It was so much fun!

(Congrats on Coach of the Month! You totally rock!!)

    13. I’m studying for the Bar Exam these days, so my holiday weekend was mostly work. However, I did manage to get some play – including a rooftop BBQ with friends. This weekend, I’m logging my longest run (14) since my last marathon (10/10/10). Here’s hoping the sweltering heat breaks in time!

    14. I ran the HarvardPilgram 10K at Gillette Stadium! I had a fantastic run! Red, white & blue, football, & the Patriots so American! I made my own red, white & blue ribbon headband for the event along with a red sparkle skirt. All the little girls along the course really liked my outfit. I love showing girls that running can be fun!

    20. I have been dying to try one of these headbands b/c they say they don’t cause headaches, which is always an issue for me. We go to a friend’s house who can see fireworks from their driveway and we make ice cream sundaes and watch fireworks!! It’s perfect b/c my kids wouldn’t be huge fans of the noise if we were close to a show.

I’m going on a canoeing trip on a river all weekend with my husband and some new friends! Looking forward to it. Enjoy yours too!

    24. I’ll be running a hot half marathon that morning. Luckily it starts at 6:30 so it shouldn’t be too hot.

    26. Congratulations and the headbands are great! I am looking forward to the Fourth and getting some time off. I think we will either go boating or have a BBQ or both, if I’m lucky.

    27. Would love to try one of these to see if they hold back bangs or if they just work on wispies :) I have no plans for the holiday except – an OB appointment and 4 dentist appointments for my 4 younger children, all when I will be about 8 days from my duedate. Not how I wanted it to go, but of course in England that day is not a holiday, and even as Americans there won’t be enough Americans around to celebrate with :) My husband will be in Normandy, France, July 2-4, coming back that evening, so perhaps we’ll celebrate with an American eatery around here (you know…Pizza Hut, or the Buca di Beppo we recently discovered) – even on sunny days here there is often some rain, so planning a BBQ or pool day would be tough :) A recent visiting friend brought us the traditional Old Navy flag tshirts – so I will make sure all the kiddos are wearing those when we go out and about — there’s one for me and new baby and my husband as well, but, of course, with new baby still on the inside of my tummy, mine won’t be quite fitting me yet :)

    30. Love the Sparkly Soul headbands! Training for my first full marathon, and my schedule calls for 5 mile run on the 4th since my long run will be Saturday. Love that the Fourth of July means I have the freedom to run, cookout, layout, just to live in such a wonderful country! So thankful for all our men and women who have served for our freedom! I’ll be working hard during my run to really push myself, and in triple digit heat that’s no joke, but still nothing compared to so many that have sacrificed much more for us! Happy Fourth of July and God Bless!

    31. This 4th of July we will be spending time with friends soaking up some sun while we boat!

    32. I have a 10K race that I’m running on the Fourth of July with a bunch of my running buddies, and then we’re going to have a barbecue afterward to “re-fuel”!

    33. I plan on relaxing by the pool this Fourth of July! And hopefully catching some fireworks show :)

    34. Congratulations on being Coach of the month!
We are spending the weekend at the lake with family…lots of family, and friends. My BFF running partner @KSGrube lives there too. So we are gettting up at the crack of dawn, ok before dawn and running at 5:45 tomorrow, then my hubby and I hope to play golf with his aunt & uncle and, fingers crossed my running partner Kelly & her hubby! My mother & father in law also invite their best friends of over 30 years and they make this stuff called Discada that is to die for and we invite our friends down to eat…nothing like a house full of people, seriously probably 20+. my hubby will probably grill wings for lunch aNd we will play in the lake with our 6 year old and his 6 year old cousin tubing! We have lots of fun, love and laughter and I’m excites to go!

    36. i just bought my first sparkly soul headband a few weeks ago… and never want to leave it at home. The red, white, and blue one is SO cute!!

    37. I tweeted about it and CONGRATULATIONS on Coach of the Month!!!

    38. Great Giveaway Michele! I LOVE Sparkly Soul and would definitely LOVE the Red, White and Blue one to wear during the Olympics! July 4th we celebrate my friend’s birthday every year. Probably beach, fireworks and good friends and her family. Then more celebrating with my extended family over the weekend :) Love celebrating summer and holidays with family and great friends and a long run over the weekend!

    39. I’m definitely loving the new colors! (And you most definitely deserve title of coach of the month. <3

I'm not sure what I'm doing for the 4th other than a long run! I'll probably make some healthy eats and post the recipes…my entire family is far away right now (and so are most of my friends). Just me, the husband, and the kids. 😀

    40. I am heading to Hilton Head Island for the 4th. Plenty of surf, sand and sun as well as running! Love cycling with the hubby and kids while we are there. A Sparkly headband sure would come in handy!!

      Happy 4th!!

    41. first giveaway i enter! would love to try out these bands! on the 4th we go to our hometown parade, hang out by the pool until night time fireworks on the beach. i know … tough life. the other days, i will be training as i start the “real” training for my 70.3 triathlon.

    42. I’m BBQing on a rooftop on the Hudson! We’ve been doing it with three other couples for the past three years and we have a great time! Plus we’re directly in front of the fireworks 😉 Great giveaway! I’d add it to my Olympic wardrobe collection!

    43. I am hoping the weather works in our favor so we can enjoy a much needed beach day. If for some reason that doesn’t work out then I’ll probably do the Firecracker 10k!

    44. Hopefully the temps will drop just enough to make grilling out bearable! I love the 4th and will be celebrating with my wonderful family.

    45. My plans for the holiday weekend are currently on the fence! I broke my foot in May and I go for my follow-up on July 3! If the doctor says it’s ok I want to go for a LONG bike ride on the 4th of July morning, I know I won’t be running ready, but the aspect of getting ANY cardio in is amazing!! After that we will more than likely watch the huge parage by my house, bbq with the family, do some swimming and watch some fireworks.
