Gone For A Run: Running Medal Hanger Review + Giveaway

Despite moving into our house over four months ago, my husband and I just recently started to focus our attention on decluttering and setting up our basement.  We now have a quasi home-gym in one section (with a TV, treadmill, trainers, and a few other pieces of workout gear).  This is realistically going to be where I log most of my winter miles this year while my two sons nap (fingers crossed that they have simultaneous nap times!!).

I have always wanted a medal hanger for all of my race medals whose previous home was a box in my closet.  The awesome people at Gone For A Run offered to send me a personalized one:

Gone For A Run Medal Hanger

We decided to hang it right next to the treadmill.  I love that I can run right next to my medals!

What I Like

  • Design: There is a wide variety of designs that you can personalize with your name, logo, mantra, etc
  • Clip:  Clip on side allows for easy access to add/remove medals
  • Capacity: Can hold over 20 medals
  • Bar: You can easily space out your medals based on the number that you have
  • Room: You can add a second bar if you need more space for the medals
Gone for a Run has a wide variety of running accessories and gifts including bib coasters, frames, bibFOLIOs, decals and magnets, and pandora-style beads (I’m a huge fan of my Pandora bracelet so this is going to be an upcoming purchase for me!).

    5. I will run my first half marathon in November. It would be great to have somewhere to display it and maybe it would encourage me to go for more medals :)

    6. My favorite race medal is from the 2010 Twin Cities Marathon. It was such a memorable race on my ‘home’ turf and I consider it one of the best race places I have run yet!

    7. My favorite medal is from the very first San Diego Rock n’ Roll marathon. It is my favorite mostly because it was my first and I never thought I could do a marathon. I also like it because it is from an inaugural event, and because I went on to do that race quite a few times.

    8. My favorite medal is from my first full, the mayors midnight sun marathon in AK. There is a grizzly bear on top of a mountain with the state flag and it currently hangs from rear view mirror in my car.

    9. My very first medal is still one of my favorite. It has the Biltmore Estate House on it which makes it pretty cool visual and in the back they took the time to have the age group, race and place I earned. But mo stly, getting that medal was a big motivation in getting me to keep on running. First race, first medal (2nd of age group) and I felt strong and that I could do this.

    10. As a relatively new runner right now I only have a few medals in my collection. I hope to get my favorite medal (at least the one I worked hardest for) in 9 days when I finish the NYC Marathon. If that doesn’t count my 2012 Staten Island Half-Marathon is right up there as I achieved a PR.

    11. Actually, my favorite medal is from the Glow Run 5k for several reasons. 1) It glows in the dark, so cool 2) I ran it with my oldest son (plus friends and family) 3) It was my first running medal.

I also already follow you on Twitter, am now following Gone For a Run, am now following you on Instagram, and I tweeted.

    12. My fave medal is the one I got from my very first half marathon this past April, Rock the Parkway 2012 in Kansas City is an awesome race with a HUGE medal :)

    13. My favorite race medal is my first half marathon- Baystate Half Marathon 2008! Next weekend I’m going for a new Half Marathon PR… I may have a new favorite medal ;)

    14. My favorite medal is the second medal I received. I won third place in my category. I am proud of it because it was my first race in the city in which I live.

    15. Too funny! I just had all of my medals out the other day and was thinking how my favorite medal is the one that is also a beer opener from Ragnar! :)

I have been meaning to organize them for some time now so this is a great giveaway!

    16. I only have one medal, so it is my favorite! My first half-marathon was at Dorney Lake near Windsor Castle and is the home of the Etin College rowing team-so the medal says “2012 Olympic Venue” bc the rowing events were held there! I am running my first marathon this Sunday-the Marine Corps Marathon ! So that is sure to eclipse the other medal :)

    17. I have 3 favorite medals (I’m sorry I can’t choose)!!! 1 is the RnR Vegas because it is from Vegas (favorite place ever) and so sparkly (but was the WORST race)! 2. ING Hartford because it was my Half PR and the smartest, fastest most enjoyable race I have ever ran. 3. Ragnar Adirondacks – I ran an ultra portion. It was the most mileage I have ever ran (to date) and I TRULY felt like I worked as hard as I ever have in my life for that medal!!!

    18. My favorite medal is from SheROX. It was a fun race with good atmosphere. The race committee had a great build-up to race day with mentors, clinics, and group training.

    19. Love the design you received for your medal hanger! I had a great streak of placing 2nd in my age group at 3 different 5K’s (road, easy trail, rough hilly trail) 3 Saturdays in a row. I received medals from 2 and a prize from the third. The first medal I received, I will always cherish because it shows how far I’ve come in my running so far and what I can accomplish!

    20. My favorite medal is from the Chicago monster dash half marathon since its also a belt buckle! Not that I would use it like that but it is certainly unique

    21. My favourite ever medal was the one I got from the NYC half this year – it’s bigger and better quality than any of the medals I have received after a UK race. I would like to come back over and run some more races in the US for some more bling!

      Thanks for the giveaway!

    22. Favorite medal ever- Mardi Gras Rock & Roll marathon. Instead of a ribbon, it’s got mardi gras beads. (However, I did see lots of people break theirs out in bars that night!)
