Saucony 26 Strong Project Video #1

As I I mentioned a few months ago, I was selected to be a member of the Saucony 26 Strong Project organized by Saucony, Competitor Group and Women’s Running.

26 strong

Over the last few months, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to mentor and know Hallie, my “cadet” for the Philadelphia Marathon.  Her whole story can be found here.

me and hallie

It’s been a wonderful experience and I am really grateful for the opportunity we have been given. More than the gear and cool perks, it’s been so inspiring to work with someone who is training for their first marathon. You only cross the finish line of your first marathon once and it’s a special, magical moment.  I am honored that I was able to work with Hallie to help get her to the start line physically and mentally ready.

But as if that wasn’t cool enough, we found out that we were one of two teams that would be filmed as part of a mini-series documenting our journey. In September, a film crew from Competitor Group came out to NYC for a few days of filming with Hallie and I.  We spent some time in Central Park, by my home, on my favorite running trail and on the boardwalk on Staten Island.

There will be three short videos of us – the first two of us training and the last will be of race day (pre-race, mid-race and the finish). Kind of excited / kind of freaking out that at various points of the marathon on Sunday, there will be some sort of film crew on a motorcade next to me and next to Hallie! HA.

The first video was just released…so here it is =)

Any words of advice for my girl, Hallie, who is only 5 days away from her FIRST marathon? =)

    15. Ahhh this is awesome! Hallie, ENJOY YOURSELF! You CAN do it… by race day you have done the hardest part…training. Allow that to pay off and cherish every step of the race.

Michele, so weird/awesome actually HEARING your voice! HA! My friend and I were talking about this (and your blog in general…as usual!) on our run last night, and she was like “you have to watch the video, I didn’t even think about Michele having a NY accent” (we live in NC)…haha. Can’t wait to track you both this weekend :-)

    16. Very cool! Good luck Hallie, enjoy every moment, even the hard ones – believe in yourself, your training and the support all around you!!!

    17. I LOVE this!!! you are so inspiring and motivating and NORMAL, and I love that about you. your realness always comes shining through and man, this video makes me want to meet you so! and have YOU be MY running coach, that would be unreal 😉 anyway, I loved this video and wish her all the luck in her marathon!!

    18. I just completed my first marathon a couple weeks ago and it was an amazing experience! Just believe in yourself. Leave all the self doubt and worry at home. Enjoy the race and make a game plan. If things don’t pan out exactly as you were hoping, remember your ultimate goal is crossing the finish line! I wish you the best of luck and can’t wait to hear how it goes!

    19. Yay! What a great video. Sending great marathon vibes to you both from Michigan! Enjoy and embrace every moment and remind yourself that you are very blessed to be healthy to run this race, Hallie. Reminding myself of that always gives me an extra little kick in my step. Now go rock this thing!

    20. So awesome! I can’t wait to follow both you! My advise to Hallie is to save your tears for after the finish line, you need all the moisture you can get for 26.2. LOL! No really, enjoy the journey, know that there will be moments of difficulty, but that they are temporary. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it, and most important, know that you have someone by your side (Michelle) who has struggled, been to war, made sacrifices and overcome adversity and done it all with style, grace and honor. When you hit the moments of pain, she has been there, she understands what you are feeling… you are not alone. Go out there and run your heart out Hallie, we’re all routing for you!! xoxo
