Happy Monday and Happy February! Hope you all had a great weekend!
Here is this week’s roundup of the best reads from the internet! Let me know if there was anything you read that caught your eye!
My friend, Ashley, is holding an auction on her blog right now. There are some really great prizes that are up for grabs. All proceeds from the auction will go towards Every Mother Counts. Go check it out here!
10 Runners Complete 7 Marathons on 7 Continents in 7 Days: Runners participating in the World Marathon Challenge run 7 marathons (or 7 half marathons – their choice!) on 7 continents in 7 days. Sounds pretty awesome, right? Only downside is the cost – $36,000 a person to participate! Yikes!
Matthew McConaughey to start in ‘Born to Run’: ‘Born to Run’ is one of my all-time favorite books – I had NO idea that there was a movie in the works! No detail as to other actors nor when the movie will start filming – but love that Matthew McConaughey will be a part of it!
17 Tips From Fit Mom Bloggers on Finding Time For Exercise: Great article from Daily Burn with from moms – some working, some stay-at-home – about making fitness a priority.
Motigo In-Race Cheering App: This is one of the coolest apps I’ve heard of. Motigo is an iphone app that allows your friends, family members, training group partners or a coach to send personalized motivational messages to you at specific points during a race (if you’re running with music or at least wearing ear buds)!
Rita Jeptoo gets two-year doping ban: Rita Jeptoo, who tested positive in the fall, was formally given a two-year ban by her national federation Athletics Kenya (it will backdate to the fall). However, the status of her past marathon wins remains undecided.
Rest and Recovery for Runners: Christine looks at why it’s so hard for runners to rest and recovery. I’ve worked on this a lot the last few years and have begun to view my rest (or days off from running) in a different light while embracing the extra time to relax and sleep in. Do you allow yourself to rest and recover?
If you want to feel inspired, check out the hashtag #likeagirl. After the Super Bowl Always commercial last night (you can read about this inspiring commercial here), runners took to Instagram and Twitter to share photos of themselves running – #likeagirl.
Have a great Monday!
